Grayskull Entertainment

Grayskull Entertainment is an independent animation production company based in Wisconsin, founded by writer and director Adrian Maier.

The work is traditional 2D animation with rigged characters. Hand-drawn character and background art, original scores, and an entirely handmade pipeline. Every frame is made by hand. No generated imagery anywhere in the films or their art.

Driftless Days is in production. A gentle narrated series for young children, set in a hidden valley in the Driftless Area, the corner of the world the glaciers walked around, where five animal friends share a creek, a meadow and a hillside.

The first film is The Last Warm Day: a goldfinch meets a butterfly on the last warm day of the year. Every animal in it is a real Driftless animal and every plant is one that actually grows here. A made-up place built only out of true things.

The films do not lie to children. Things end, things leave, and winter comes. The comfort is never that it is not so. The comfort is that somebody sits down next to you.

CHUCKERS is in development, back at the writer's desk. An animated short about a coin-only strip club off Interstate 4 in Florida, run by four friends with unusual abilities. It goes badly, then worse, then weirdly fine. Nobody on screen finds any of this remarkable. It goes to festivals when it is finished and not a day sooner.
